IEM Cologne 2025: Donk Claims MVP as Team Spirit Completes Triumphant Trifecta
IEM Cologne 2025: Donk – Tournament MVP and Team Spirit’s Triumph
Team Spirit became the champions of IEM Cologne 2025, crushing MOUZ in the grand final with a 3:0 score. This title was a logical continuation of their dominance in 2025. After victories at BLAST Bounty Spring 2025 and PGL Astana 2025, they completed a winning “triumvirate” of major tournaments. The latest event became the third big tournament of the season to be added to Team Spirit’s collection. The tournament’s MVP was Danil “donk” Kryshkovets, who displayed incredible consistency and impact in every match.
How Team Spirit Won IEM
The team started the competition in the group stage and confidently advanced to the playoffs. In the semifinals, they took down NAVI—the series ended 2:1. Donk was the key player, posting a ~1.42 rating and over 100 ADR. Meanwhile, MOUZ eliminated the favorites Vitality from the upper bracket, ending their impressive win streak.
In the final, Team Spirit took control on Mirage with a 10:2 lead and closed the map comfortably at 13:7. On Ancient, they were down 5:11 but won seven rounds in a row, including a clutch from donk, to seal the map 13:11. The final Nuke was dominated by Spirit from start to finish—13:6 and a confident title victory.
Donk – The Deserved MVP
By the end of the tournament, donk earned the MVP title of IEM Cologne 2025—his ninth career MVP. By the way, this is a record-breaking achievement for a rifler, second only to NiKo. His average tournament rating was 1.50–1.53, ADR close to 100, and his clutch performances left opponents no chance in decisive moments.
Donk emotionally commented on the victory:
“After getting knocked out in the top 16 at Cologne 2024, I almost gave up… but now I see that all the hard work paid off.”
He also credited their new player, zweih, who joined Spirit just 11 days before the tournament and already became part of the winning formula.
Other Valuable Players (EVPs)
Though donk was the clear leader, several other players stood out at IEM Cologne 2025:
-
sh1ro (Team Spirit) – ~1.19 rating in the semifinal, though his performance dipped slightly in the final.
-
ropz (Vitality) – Maintained a consistently high level despite his team’s loss.
-
b1t (NAVI) & torzsi (MOUZ) – Both delivered impressive plays, earning EVP status for strong performances in the group stage and playoffs.
Why This Victory Matters
The IEM title was a logical step in Team Spirit’s 2025 dominance. Now, they’ve collected the full set of major trophies: IEM Katowice, Major, and Cologne.
The win also earned them $400,000 in prize money, pushing their seasonal earnings to over $1,000,000 from major tournaments alone.
For donk, this is yet another confirmation of his status as the best young player in CS2. In 2025, he has already claimed MVP titles at BLAST Bounty Spring, PGL Astana, and now IEM Cologne—a unique achievement.
What’s Next?
The next major tournament is BLAST Bounty Fall 2025, running from August 14–17, with a $500,000 prize pool. Team Spirit will undoubtedly be among the favorites, especially after IEM Cologne 2025. On the other hand, Vitality, NAVI, and MOUZ will surely be looking for revenge. Thus, the battle for the next 2025 legend begins.
IEM Cologne 2025 became a major milestone in 2025. Team Spirit completed their seasonal trio of big titles, donk rightfully earned the tournament MVP, and the zweih-sh1ro duo complemented the team’s star power. This success only solidified Spirit’s status as one of CS2’s strongest forces, while the IEM Cologne 2025 MVP title was further proof of donk’s greatness.
